Night diving is such an amazing experience that you should try once in a lifetime, your focus should be on where your torch is pointing - it is like narrowing your focus, unlike any other day dive. At night, all the day creatures fall asleep and it is time for the nocturnal creatures to start their activities. During night diving, you are able to see sleeping creatures, nocturnal creatures, as well as glow in the dark creatures. Experiencing underwater life in a whole different way - different focus and the right equipment to keep you safe.
Here are some tips when night diving in Bali :
Carrying dive torches is an important part of night diving. With a dive torch you are able to be seen, to see things around you and keep you to track your enter and exit point. Sometimes it is also fun to turn off your light for a few moments and let yourself in pitch dark and feel the experience. Carrying two torches both a primary and a back-up. It is always a Good idea to bring one - two spare torches, in case your primary one doesn't work and don’t forget to ensure your torches have full charge batteries.
Plan your night dive, always do the check dive during the day time and get oriented with the zone also familiar with the zone- so it will make you more relaxed and comfortable during night dive as you already know the topography. During your night dive it’s important to keep your dive shallow and short as diving can be risky sometimes, and night dives increase that risk. By staying shallow and shortening your dive time, just in case something happens.
You should always keep in mind how to respect marine life. Aquatic animals are not used to artificial light shining directly into their eyes, which can cause them to become disoriented or even blind.
The best time to start a night dive :
Beginning at Dusk
Going out on the water while there is still some light in the sky is a great way to start night diving. It not only allows your eyes to adjust to the darkness, but it also allows you to observe the transition of the animals in the underwater world from day to night. It is also easier to prepare your dive equipment than plumbing with your dive torch.
Beginning in the Dark
A certain type of night diving adventure may necessitate waiting until the inky blackness of night falls before entering the water. These types of dives typically require scuba divers to wait until it is dark before diving.
Beginning before sunrise
Seeing a dawn on the beach is a unique experience in and of itself. The magnificence of the underwater world as it begins to awaken is pure wonder. Getting up at an unreasonable hour of the morning and putting on dive gear may not be everyone's cup of tea. But being underwater as the nighttime gives way to those first golden rays of a new day is a rare experience.
